Tournament Rules
1) All matches will be played according to the ‘Rules of the Game of Bowls’
as laid down in the Crystal Mark Third edition booklet.
2) It is incumbent on all player(s) in both knock-out and league matches to contact their opponents to arrange games.
3) All knock-out matches are to be played by the date at the top of the column in which the match is shown. A match that is not seen to have been played by the specified date (i.e. the winner’s name having not been entered for the next round) could result in both parties being defaulted. Should a player(s) experience difficulty in arranging a match contact should be made with a member of the tournament committee at least one week prior to the ‘play by’ date for guidance. The tournament committee will apply discretion where strict application would not be in the best interests of the competition, in such cases the decision of the tournament committee will be final.
4) All league matches must be completed by the 30th of September. Any unplayed matches by that date will be governed by the ‘Unplayed Match Rules’ document. The tournament committee will have discretion to extend that date if they see fit.
5) Rinks should be booked for the purpose of playing these matches via our online booking system or at the club on the sheets provided in accordance with the ‘Rink Booking Rules’.
No matches should be booked on the Friday and Sunday roll-up club mornings nor on interclub match days.
6) All Singles matches in both the League and Knockout tournaments should have a ‘marker’ who will keep the score, measure any close shots as requested and answer any questions that may be asked by the competing players.
7) All summer Knock-out cup matches will be decided by the first player(s) to reach 18 shots.
The Winter Cup knockout matches are to be played over 18 ends. If a match is then tied, further end(s) to be played to decide the winning team.
8) All League matches will be played over 18 ends, the winner being awarded 3 points, 1 each for a drawn match and 0 points for the loser.
9) If a match is stopped by reason of darkness, weather or any other valid reason it should be continued on the same or another day. Rule 50.1 (rules of the game bowls) applies
If it has been stopped before an end has been completed that end will be regarded as dead and the whole end replayed when the match is reconvened. This applies even if one or more players choose to remain on the rink during the stoppage. Rule 50.2. If all shots have been played the shot count must be made before the game stops and that end will stand. Rule 50.3.
If it is not possible to continue a new date to complete the match should be arranged at that time..
10) In any case of dispute or clarification needed, guidance should be sought from the Tournament Committee (Captain, Alan Dell, Fixtures Secretary, Mike McLachlan and Ian Smith).
