WITH no club competitions taking place during last year due to the pandemic, there were of course no trophy presentations.

However, there was one award which the Committee felt should be given – the President’s Cup (known affectionately as the Claret Jug) for special service to the club.

It was awarded to Trevor Dobson who over many years has generously produced the flower displays that adorn our tubs and hanging baskets around the clubhouse.

This year Trevor went even further and constructed a delightful rockery in place of the old flowerbed in front of the sheds. His horticultural delights are much appreciated.

Trevor received the cup from our President Glyn Larcombe after an introductory speech by Club Captain Alan Dell in a special ceremony in December, which this year had to be made outside the clubhouse instead of at the annual dinner. Trevor was warmly applauded by a small gathering at the occasion.
