MEMORIAL DAY 2015
Another successful Memorial Day was played out in pleasant sunny conditions with a good turnout. This year's winners were Fred Parsons and Ivor Davies, who beat Vera Davies and Alan Diver 4-1 in a fairly close final. (Pictured below left)

Our Ladies v Gentlemen annual tournament once again saw the Ladies triumphant ..... Come on guys!
We have also played two Friendlies - one away to Slough BC, where we lost on all three rinks but thoroughly enjoyed the day there, being given a friendly welcome ... and some delicious food! We have invited Slough for a return next summer.
That was followed by us entertaining Heathervale - this time it was Wraysbury who won with a clean sweep. Again the visitors enjoyed the day, which was bathed in sunshine.
Our finale friendly saw Wraysbury beat Stanwell on all three rinks to wrap up our season.
KLX team's season ends on a high
A 10 points win against Maidenhead Thicket 'A' saw the men's KLX team keep their place in Division 2 East to play some of the regular opponents next season.

C&T triples happy with their second win of the season
Our Chiltern & Thames league season also closed on a happy note with our mixed triples claiming their second win of the campaign.
The team had a resounding 81-29 success against Osterley at home, taking 8 poiints.
It could have been a clean sweep but for a last end turnaround that gave them a two-point consolation. Best rink was Sarah Jane, Gregg and Andy D playing superbly for a 38-7 margin over some good bowlers in the Osterley trio.
Another highlight of the season was to take a point off the redoubtable Rosedale something not achieved for some time - with a tied rink from Sarah Jane, Gregg and Andy D.
On Rosedale's visit to Wraysbury we nearly pulled off two points, losing by one shot on the final end on the top rink again with Sarah Jane partnered by Val Lambert and Ian Smith.
Our campaign in C&T got off to a good start with a 8-2 home win against Stanwell. Top rink with 19-12 was Sheila Webster, Mike McLachlan, & Andy McKay (skip), but the match points were clinched with a determined fightback from a big deficit by Colin Lambert, Val King and Vera Davies (skip) to close just seven shots behind,
enabling the one point victory as Sarah Jane, Val Lambert & Ivor Davies won 19-18.
The following matches did not bring us any further success except the one point we snatched from Rosedale away.
Good showing from our Pair against international level duo in County last 16
IN the county pairs championship last 16 match recently, Ivor Davies & Gregg Scott put in a good performance but the quality of the international level players from Tilehurst proved too much - and they went out 22-9.
IT was a privilege to see this quality of players at our rink and a small gathering appreciated the game. England international Andy Knapper is a Commonwealth silver and bronze medallist and Bowls England Player of the Year for the past two years.
His partner Adrian Collins is an international and national champion in triples.
Ivor & Gregg did well early on - and even led 9-8 at the halfway stage of this 21-end contest.
But the class of their opposition told in the end as they consistently surrounded the jack to move clear to victory.
The Tilehurst duo were not troubled but our rink, and their ability soon saw them get the measure of it.
Andy Knapper afterwards praised the performance of Ivor and Gregg, saying: "It was a good contest - we had to fight hard to win."

Thursday nights roll ups
Your Committee has decided to try the experiment of having an additional Roll-Up session on Thursday evenings.
The idea is another option for players to have an additional session during the summer months, which may be a help to those who have other commitments on Fridays or Sundays.
It was also thought that it might help with recruitment as villagers who may be occupied during the day saw activity at the club in the evenings.
The suggested time is from 6.45 / 7pm for a couple of hours.

Our 2015 season gets underway
After the last minute cancellation by Parkside, we were grateful to Chess Vale Bowling Club who answered a request for a replacement match.
We had asked Chess Vale as we wanted to link up with another all-weather club - and their carpet is one of the best around, where international teams play.
They gave us a warm welcome and we played an entertaining match of five triples. Unfortunately we could only win one rink - Val Lambert, Roger Painter and Ian Smith - but the day was greatly enjoyed by all.
